Good morning from The Garden!

Quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools.” Ecclesiastes 9:17.

Solomon had it all, or so it seemed. He had wealth, power, possessions, and above all wisdom. When Solomon became king, he asked God for wisdom and became the wisest man in the world. He studied, taught, advised, and wrote. Kings and rulers came to Jerusalem to learn from him.

But Solomon failed completely in one area—he did not heed his own words of wisdom and began a downward spiral.

In the book of Ecclesiastes Solomon reflects on his mistakes and warns others of the emptiness that is found when the wise are shunned for the glamour of the loud and shallow.

How many times have we all looked back at simple words of wisdom coming from a parent, a teacher, a friend that went unheeded? We say, “If only I had listened.”

In a world of noise and clamor, we need to be receptive to wisdom, no matter how quietly it comes to us.

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
