“Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:4.
You are to show genuine interest in others, but you cannot become consumed with the happiness of others. Sometimes in trying to bring about peace and unity you may begin to think that you can actually make others happy. If you are the source, then the happiness is short-lived. You can only try not to be the source of their unhappiness.
Some individuals just choose never to be satisfied. They choose to be unhappy.
Joyce Meyer wrote: “You are responsible to people, but God has not made you responsible for their joy.”
True happiness is JOY, the JOY that only God can give.
Don’t let others steal your joy by bringing you into the “unhappy” fold. Instead, continue to live unselfishly, to love unconditionally, and to reach out to others with the joy that God has placed in your heart. Then others may follow your lead.
The apostle Paul explains it best: “…Then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others being better than yourselves.” Philippians 2:3.
Have a blessed day! In Christian love, Diane
