This scripture reads like a news headline that pops up on my cell phone.
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power.” 2 Timothy 3:1-5.
Paul’s reference to the “last days” reveals his sense of urgency. The last days began after Jesus’ resurrection and will continue until Christ’s second coming.
We are living in the “last days” so we each should check our lives against Paul’s list and never give in to society’s pressures. When we settle for comfort without commitment we become weak and unable to stand up against evil.
Everyday we must live as God would have His people live—His way.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
