God had given the Israelites the Promised Land, the Land of Canaan. For many years they struggled with outside powers trying to hold their land. Now the enemy was within their land. The Canaanites under the leadership of Sisera had infiltrated their ranks, regrouped, and were attempting to gain power again.
“Because he [Sisera] had nine hundred iron chariots and had cruelly oppressed the Israelites for twenty years, they cried to the Lord for help.” Judges 4:3
After 20 years of unbearable circumstances, the Israelites FINALLY cried to the Lord for help.
God never wants to be in FINAL place.
He wants to be in FIRST place.
Keeping Him in first place brings joy through sadness and peace through chaos.
