Good morning from The Garden!

God granted Solomon the wisdom that he requested. “..…..I will give you a wise and discerning heart……”  1 Kings 3:12. For many years Solomon ruled his people with this wisdom.

One example in the scripture of Solomon’s wisdom is the manner in which he settled the dispute between two women who claimed to be the mother of the same baby. One of the women’s baby had died and she was now claiming that the living baby was hers.

Solomon decided to cut the baby in half so both of them could have the rightful claim.

Of course, the real mother willingly gave up her rights to the baby rather than see the baby killed.

The other woman exclaimed, “Neither I nor you shall have him; cut the baby in half!” 1 Kings 3:26.

Solomon saw where the true devotion lay and granted the child to the mother.

We know that Solomon was just making a point with this illustration, but this is what greed can do to all of us.

We must be careful not to have the same attitude as the other woman—–“If I can’t have it, then I don’t want anyone else to have it either!”

The unselfish attitude of the mother allowed Solomon to grant her everything she wanted, “Give the living baby to the first woman. Do not kill him; she is the mother.” 1 Kings 3;27

When we can give sacrificially for the good of another, we then truly have it all.

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
