There are two very wrong ideas some may have about being a Christian: 1. I am a good person and I don’t need Christ; 2. I am a bad person. I can’t be good enough to be loved by Christ.
Before becoming a Christian, Paul was a zealous Pharisee who was an enemy of Christianity and a persecutor of Christians.
Even though he became probably the most influential of all the apostles, he felt unworthy to be called an apostle because of his past.
“For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.” 1 Corinthians 15:9.
Paul was filled with humility. But above all, he recognized one very important fact.
“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than, all of them—yet Not I, but the GRACE of GOD that was with me.” 1 Corinthians 15:10.
Paul helps us realize that true humility does not mean that we should feel that we are worthless. Humility also keeps us from being puffed up on our own goodness.
We should realize that we are who we are because of who He is. As we acknowledge His grace in our lives, we allow Him to use our abilities and our limitations to further His kingdom.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
