My granddaughter is now in her twenties and has a baby of her own, but I have a special memory of time with her. We were in Canada trying to enjoy the art of dog sledding in freezing temperatures. (The coldest day I’ve every known.) She was stuffed with warm clothes, gloves, hat, etc. She was a nice fluffy teddy bear. Just as the guide placed her in the sled on my lap, she calls out, “I’m Not very C-O-M-F-O-R-T-A-B-L-E. That, of course, was an understatement. That feeling was only the first of our bad experience, but that’s for another day!
This memory brings me to my devotions for this morning.
“Pursuit of happiness” is a promise given in the Constitution of the United States to all Americans. This doesn’t mean that we will always be happy; nor are we always comfortable! No happiness or comfort is possible outside the realm of God’s direction.
The Holy Scriptures provide us with a more important promise— a more important goal.
“He who PURSUES righteousness and love finds life, prosperity, and honor.” Proverbs 21:21.
This pursuit of the right things brings us eternal joy and peace that only God can give. Joy, not happiness; eternal peace, not always earthly comfort. To honor God in all we do is the goal of every Christian
May God bless you in your walk with Christ and in your pursuit of righteousness in Him.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
