We call today “Good Friday.” Many may think, “How can this day be called ‘Good’?” Jesus was tried, beaten, spit on, ridiculed, and then crucified.
Without His death on the cross, we could not be cleansed of our sins; without His death on the cross, His resurrection would not be possible; without His resurrection, we would not have everlasting life.
The Good is to know that on the third day He arose and made it possible for us to live eternally with Him.
On Good Friday in 1952 our nation proudly recognized the cross and the agony Christ suffered for us all. The skyscrapers in New York City lit up with the three crosses of Calvary–Jesus in the middle of two criminals—making the statement, “I give my life for you.” Public display of Christian faith was welcomed, not punished.
We live in a different nation today. In 2019 a skyscraper in NYC lit up pink to celebrate abortion–making a statement–“You gave up your life for me.”
Have we come so far from the cross??
On this “Good Friday” may we all remember the good that came from the cross. Jesus is alive and waits for us to come to Him.
“In my Father’s house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for me, and if I go and prepare a place, I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there you may be also.….” John 14.
This is indeed “Good.”
Have a blessed Easter!
In Christian love,
Diane
