Good morning from The Garden!

It’s not over until the clock runs out and the buzzer sounds.

I witnessed this on a Friday night when two worthy high school opponents met on the football field in a small town in Louisiana.  There was and still is intense competition between these two neighboring schools.

Both teams played hard–their goal was to earn the spot in the State Championship game the next week—-a worthy goal for the participants and for sports fans.

The score was tied with only 5 seconds left on the game clock . Our quarterback rolled back, threw a pass, and the receiver caught the ball and ran toward the goal. He never looked back, nor did he look from side to side. He just ran toward the goal.

As he crossed the goal line, the clock rolled over to “0:00” and the buzzer sounded in our ears.

Time ran out and the game was over.  We had won.

For the Christian, we should have one goal–to live for Christ and for His purpose. We strive toward Spiritual maturity, keeping our eyes on the goal so we can finish strong and true, honoring God in all that we do.

But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus,” Philippians 3:13-14.

The game is never finished until the clock runs out and the buzzer sounds. We must stay in the game and never give up—with God’s purpose implanted in our hearts.

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
