Colossians 3:1-25 is a powerful scripture. In this passage we learn that as a Christian we have a new life. With this new life comes responsibilities. I’ve chosen just one part of this scripture for today.
“-–because of God’s deep love for you, you should practice tenderhearted mercy and kindness toward others. …Be gentle and ready to forgive; never hold grudges. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others….Let love be your guide.” Colossians 3:12-14.
When we remember how much the Lord has forgiven us, it should be easy to forgive others.
As a Christian, being able to forgive is CHRISTLIKE.
When Christ forgives, He also forgets: “For I will forgive their sins and remember them no more.” Hebrews 8:12.
As mortals, forgetting is not always the same thing as forgiving.
Forgiving cleanses your heart and leaves room for God’s blessings and love.
Remembering the pain of the past or remembering how someone wronged you does not mean that you never truly forgave. Remembering can make you stronger and more sensitive to the feelings of others.
When you truly forgive someone, you can walk in the peace that only Christ can give. You can build relationships that only Christ can nurture. You can fill your heart and life with His love and give to others the love that Christ gives you.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
