Yesterday we celebrated Easter—-Resurrection Sunday—–We sang “He Arose,” He’s Alive,” “Because He Lives.,” and listened to these words through the sermon preached.
Do we really believe these words? Do we live today knowing that Christ rose from the grave, that He is alive with our Holy Father, and that He waits to welcome us into our eternal home.
When Jesus appeared to the disciples after His resurrection, Thomas was not with them. When he returned and the others told him that Jesus is alive and that they had seen the risen Lord, he said that he would not believe unless he saw Jesus for himself.
Later on Jesus appeared to the group and Thomas was with them. Jesus let Thomas touch his nail-scarred hands and Thomas exclaimed, “My Lord and my God.” Thomas had his proof and he believed.
Jesus said to Thomas, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:29
Many today are the same as Thomas. They look for the physical evidence or for that miracle. They will believe if only God would do this, or they would believe if only they could see that special sign.
We have never known the physical presence of Jesus or touched His scarred hands. We only know His spiritual presence that radiates our lives each day.
We don’t have to look for that physical sign or that special miracle to believe in Christ. We only have to believe in His Resurrection. He is alive. That is miracle enough.
If you believe in that which you have not seen, remember that Jesus calls you “Blessed.”
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
