Good morning from The Garden!

I am saddened by the account of Judas–saddened by his betrayal of Jesus, but even more saddened by his lack of understanding of who Christ was.

Judas did not see Jesus as the Redeemer;
He did not see him as the one and only one who could forgive the sin he had committed;
He never realized that his life could still be valuable to others through Christ;
He did not understand the peace that Jesus offered to all who turn to Him;

When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, ‘I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood.’
And they said, ‘What is that to us?’ ‘See thou to it.’
(That’s your responsibility.) Matthew 27:1-4

Judas was truly sorry for what he had done. He was searching for forgiveness, but Judas turned to the worldly leaders and not to the one and only one who could have saved him, the one who could have given him forgiveness and the “peace that passes all understanding.”

In Matthew 27:5 we find that Judas threw the money down and hopelessly ended his own life.
A life that Christ could have saved if he had reached out to Him.

No sin is so bad that Jesus does not forgive; no guilt is so heavy that Jesus cannot relieve it; no burden is so great that Jesus cannot carry it.

Find the peace that Jesus promises: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27.

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
