We have often heard someone share a story about the “big game,” giving important information and remembering every detail, play by play. Just because he knows all about the event, does not make him an athlete. He may, indeed, just be a spectator.
Not everyone who talks about heaven belongs to God’s kingdom.
“Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21.
In our revival this week, we were asked this simple question: “If you died today, are you confident that you will go to heaven and stand before the Living Christ?”
The answer is a simple yes, or no—-There is no maybe?— or I think I will?– or if I don’t make any more mistakes?
Jesus went to the cross and died for our sins so that we can be assured that we will be with Him in heaven. “But God demonstrated His love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, You Will Be Saved!” Romans 10:9.
Many people today, just like the Pharisees in Jesus’ day, think that being religious and knowing about religious things will get them into heaven.
Jesus exposed those people who sounded religious but had no personal relationship with Him–the ones who talked a good religious talk, but did not choose to walk the Christian walk. On the day of judgment only our acceptance of Him and our obedience to Him–will matter.
Jesus is more concerned about the actions that come from our faith in Him, than in our knowledge of religion.
We must be sure that our Bible study comes from a pure heart seeded in Christ. This is the only way our actions will reflect our knowledge.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
