I don’t like going to the grocery store. During the years that I cooked everyday for many people, I went to the store every day….. After I checked out, I would look at the plastic bags and think, “I can carry these and just leave the cart at the door. Why push the buggy all the way to the car?” I’m not sure if I was tryingto save trips, or time, or walking steps–but nevertheless, I was determined.
Soooooo I started slipping the little white bags over my arms one at a time. At first, it was not a big deal, but by the time all bags were on my arms and in my hands, I was “heavy-ladened.” Then I had to juggle to carry bags, unlock the car, and open the car door. And, of course, at least one bag would always break open.
It would have been so much easier if I had just let the buggy carry the weight for me.
Do you pile your burdens on daily until you are heavy-ladened? Then do you suddenly say, “I can’t do this”? God never expects you to do anything on your own. He is just waiting for you to allow Him to carry your “packages.”
“Come unto me all you who are weary and heavy-ladened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30.
The heavy load that is pressing down on you will become lighter if you just reach out and allow God to walk with you and carry your bundle.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
