Good morning from The Garden!

“Dinner’s ready!”  Grandma Bradley would shout out to the family.  (The men were waiting; the women were cooking, and the children were playing.)  This was the order each time we had dinner with Grandma–no debate—–The men ate first, then the women, and the sweaty children came in from playing and ate last.

As a child I never questioned this order, and I do not remember any of us going hungry.  There was always food left over.

Elisha was Elijah’s replacement as God’s prophet to Israel. God performed many miracles through the life of Elisha. One of those miracles involved a widow and her sons. They were poor and destitute and cried out to Elisha for help.

Elisha took action to meet their needs, but he did not take over and do it on his own.
He gave her an opportunity to express her faith in God’s ability to help.

Elisha told her to go to her neighbors and gather as many empty jars as she could find. He then told her to pour the only oil she had left into the jars. She acted in obedience, and the oil continued to pour as long as she had jars to place it in. [2 Kings 4:1-7.]
You see, the number of jars she had gathered was an indication of her faith and willingness to obey.

God’s provision for you is as large as you allow it to be. When you forget that God provides, you limit God’s ability to bless you.

Just like dinner at Grandma Bradley’s house:  When you have faith, there is always enough.

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
