I remember when I turned 55 I was proud to finally get that “senior” discount. I thought it would make a big difference. I walked up to the McDonald’s counter and ordered coffee. When I remembered I was a “senior,” I turned and said, “Can you make that a “senior” cup? He answered, “I already did!!” I was shocked. I wanted the benefit of being a senior, but I had not thought that someone would think I was “old.”
Now I am at another milestone. As I traveled in Greece and Rome, I noticed that people treated me differently than others around me. They helped me with the door, gave me their chair, told me where there was an elevator instead of endless stairs. This special treatment might have been because I was carrying a cane, but it could have been because I am “a senior.”
Remembering times past and making new memories stir my heart with the realization of the passing of time.
“To everything there is a season–—“
We remember the youthful times, embrace the mature years, and celebrate old age with a renewed spirit and a heart full of love.
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” 2 Corinthians 4:16.
I pray we can be renewed every day by the warmth of the Holy Spirit living in us—no matter what our age may be.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
