“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never harm me.” Secular quote.
(This is just not true! Harsh words can injure in a way that is slow to heal.)
“If anyone is NEVER at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check.” James 3:2b.
“Actions speak louder than words.” Secular quote
(Maybe not always)
“If anyone considers himself religious [actions]and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue[words], he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.” James 1:26
We should never get in the position that we feel our words do not make a difference—–that we can do enough good to counteract harsh words.
Words are powerful.
They build up, encourage, support, express love and security,
OR they tear down, discourage, desert, deceive, humiliate, hurt!
Our words reflect our basic nature. Who we are is reflected through our attitude of speech.
“He who guards his lips, guards his life.” Proverbs 13:3.
Have blessed day!
