I look our my window and I see white. That is very unusual for us here in Louisiana. We are in the middle of a rare winter storm. Low temperatures present a hard freeze that literally closes down the world around us.
This winter storm did not slip in on us during the night. We have been warned about it for weeks. It has been in the forecast without variation for days now. We have had ample time to get prepared the best way we know how.
That is the way it will be for the Christian when Christ returns for His people. We know that He is coming again; we know that every day matters in our plans for His return; we know to be prepared; “But, you brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day…… so let us be alert and self-controlled…” 1 Thessalonians 5:4-6.
But to those who will not listen and to those who refuse to believe He will come while they are unprepared.
“…for you know that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, ‘peace and safety,’ destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on an expectant woman, and they will not escape….” 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3.
Just as we made plans for the week of frozen ground, we must make our plans for the time when Jesus returns to claim His people. We will be prepared; we will be ready; we will not be surprised.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
