Yesterday my house was alive with family! It was a long time coming but it was a wonderful day. God provided the sunshine for us to worship and celebrate our Risen Lord and to gather and enjoy fellowship.
“And Jesus called the children unto Him and said ‘Suffer the little children to come into me and do not hinder them……’ ” Luke 18:16.
This comes to mind as I think of yesterday. I listened to the beautiful sound of young children and babies throughout the congregation at our church as we listened to the Word of God preached by our pastor. I said a thank you prayer for the mothers and fathers who brought the children to worship. It is not always easy to wrestle with the young in church, but it is always right. I love the children.
Jesus loved the children and even told His followers that we have to be like children to enter the kingdom of God. We must have an innocent nature that puts all trust in HIm.
Later the same day, I looked around at family of all ages, laughing, playing, talking, enjoying time together.
As we gather around before the family meal, I say a prayer of blessing for the food, for family, and for the special time of the year. When the prayer is over, my young nephew Carter looks up at me and says, “Mama Di, you said Christmas. It’s Easter!” And so I did.
First of all, he was listening—that is great!
Second of all he was innocent enough to mention it.—that is great!
Sooooo I did what anyone would have done in this situation. I just told him that he had won the prize for paying attention.
It it were not for Christmas, then there would be no Easter. Sooo maybe not a mistake after all.
I love children; they make my heart smile!
Have a blessed day! In Christian love,
Diane
