Good morning from The Garden!

Do you save stuff? Do you place your special possessions in a box or in a drawer or in a closet? You may do this because these things are very expensive (bought with a great price) or because this possession is an heirloom (passed down through many generations.) Do you save it for a special occasion?

In Jeremiah there is a story about the linen belt. God asks Jeremiah to buy one and wear it around his waist. Jeremiah obeys: “So I bought a belt, as the Lord directed, and put it around my waist.” Jeremiah 13:2. The belt is strong and useful. Then God tells Jeremiah to put it away and hide it in the rocks. Again Jeremiah obeys. Later God again speaks to Jeremiah: “Go to Perath and get the belt I told you to hide there.: Jeremiah 13:6. When Jeremiah brings the belt back from the rocks, it is completely ruined and useless.

God’s people had placed God’s belt of protection and strength away from their everyday lives. They had not allowed God to be near to them, to serve them, or to be useful in protecting them.

They had let pride in themselves take the place of honoring God, drifting away and letting  other things come between them and the all-powerful God who loved them.

Your Heavenly Father does not want you to put Him away and bring Him out only on certain occasions—-Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Sunday——
Remember that Christ is a treasure that was bought with a great price and has been handed down through many generations. Wear His belt of love and assurance. Keep Him close everyday and allow Him to be part of your life.

Have blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
