I sit here this morning and listen to the workers on my roof. They are steadily scraping the shingles off and tossing them to the ground. It may sound like they are destroying my home, but actually they are preparing to make it better.
Christ demands that we do the same thing when we follow Him. We scrape off the old self to make room for the new self in His name.
“…since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on a new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator…..” Colossians 3:10.
Becoming a Christian, a follower of Christ, is not like making a New Year’s Resolution. It’s not something that looks good on the outside and yet is the same on the inside. Salvation means you are a new creation. “Therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17.
All the shingles are gone from my rooftop. The new roof will cover my home and protect it from the storms.—Just like life in Christ—-the old is gone; the new has come..
Have blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
