Good morning from The Garden!

Years ago I read about a New England farmer who owned land along the Atlantic seacoast. He advertised for hired hands but most people were reluctant to work on farms along the Atlantic because of the fierce storms that raged suddenly destroying everything.

Finally an older man approached the farmer and asked for work. The farmer questioned him about his ability as a farmhand. He only answered, “Well, I can sleep when the wind blows.”

This puzzled the farmer, but desperate for help, he hired the man.
The man worked hard and the farmer seemed pleased with his work.

Then one night the storm hit. The farmer grabbed a lantern and rushed to the barns yelling to the hired hand to help him tie things down to prevent everything from blowing away.

The hired hand just rolled over and went back to sleep.

The farmer was ready to fire him on the spot until he realized that all the haystacks were covered, the chickens were in the coop, the cows in the barn stalls, the shutters were tightly closed. Everything was secured so that nothing could blow away.

The hired hand was prepared so that he could “sleep when the wind blows.”

This bit of advice fits this analogy:  “Have two goals: wisdom–that is knowing and doing right–and common sense. Don’t let them slip away.” Proverbs 3:21 Living Bible.

When you are prepared mentally, physically, and spiritually you have nothing to fear, and you will be able to sleep when the wind blows.

“Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27b.

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
