Christ was not recognized in His hometown. The people around Him remembered that He was a carpenter’s son. They remembered that he played with their children. They remembered that He was an ordinary little boy from Nazareth.
As Christ began His ministry, He returned to Nazareth and was doubted and rejected. “What’s this wisdom that has been given Him, that He even does miracles? Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren’t His sisters here with us?”….Mark 6:3
Jesus realized that His friends and neighbors and even, at first, His family (John 7:5; Acts 1:14) found it hard to believe that He could do the things that He had done. “Jesus said to them. ‘Only in His hometown, among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without his honor.’…. ” Mark 6:4
Your work for Christ does not have to be noticed. It does not have to be applauded by the people around you. You do not need to achieve recognition for all you do for your work to be valuable.
Jesus continued His work in spite of the lack of faith of those who could have known Him best. “Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village…” Mark 6:6.
Allow God to work in your life even when you do not feel the support of the ones around you. Listen to His voice and follow His lead. Move on in His name and you will be blessed.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
