My backdoor opened yesterday and my grandson Court walked in. It was a nice surprise. (He does that quite often.) He said to me, “I came to pick up the limbs.” He was following through with the promise he made after the ice storm two weeks ago. He had then simply said, “I’ll be back to pick up limbs.” I believed him, and since I no longer can pick up in the yard, I waited. He came; he worked; I cooked lunch; we visited; and he was then on his way to other things. (Like fishing.)
Being a grandmother is a wonderful experience. To have children to love you and help you as you get older and a little less agile makes you feel warm and fuzzy all over.
God knew long ago the effect grandchildren would have on their grandparents. The wisdom found in Proverbs 17:6a states “Children’s children are a crown to the aged.”
I don’t think I exactly feel like the aged, but I think you get the picture.
What’s the expression we hear so often?—–“If I knew grandchildren were going to be this much fun, I would have had them first.” LOL
I sure guess that’s why they call them GRAND!
If you are too young to appreciate this or if you do not have grandchildren, spend time today with a child or a teenager. This time will be your “crown” and you will certainly feel like a king.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
