“Jesus said, ‘A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.’ ” John 13:34.
Love is so simple; it comes from a heart filled with Christ! Jesus did not say “Like.” He did not say “Always agree.” He did not say “Follow their way of life.” He said “LOVE., as I have loved you.”
When you love, you may never know when your influence ends.
I’m reminded of the hymn always requested by our young people when we had hymn choice at church.
“It only takes a spark to get a fire going. And soon all those around can warm up in its glowing—“
If a fire can be started by a simple spark, then the love of Christ can be spread in the same way. His love is contagious. But it needs to be warm and inviting.
The hymn continues: “That’s how it is with God’s love; once you’ve experienced it—-you want to pass it on.”
We will never reach others for Christ if our witness is a cold ember. We probably won’t reach others if we are like a raging out-of-control fire.
Others must see in us something that they need or desire.
“–and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem(home town) and in all Judea(your state) and Samaria(neighboring states) and to the ends of the earth(entire world)—” Acts 1:8.
You can show God’s love to others because He first loved you. Remember it only takes a spark——You may be that spark.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
