Ralph Waldo Emerson states that a friend is one “with whom I can speak my thoughts aloud.”
Everyone needs a friend who will listen to him/her and be loyal to him/her at all times. A friend that will listen with a loving heart and will keep to himself/herself private things that are personal.
But having that special friend actually begins with you.
“A man that has friends must show himself friendly.” Proverbs 18:24.
Instead of always wishing that you had friends, you must try first of all to be one.
There are people everywhere who need your friendship. There are those who are alone or who are hurting with no one to help ease the loneliness or pain. When you ask God to reveal them to you, He will direct them to you in a special way.
As you show “yourself friendly,” you will get your minds off “self” and will be able to recognize the needs of others. When you care for others, you might then find that friend with whom you can “speak your thoughts aloud.”
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
