There is so much devastation in South Louisiana and Mississippi after Hurricane Ida passed through that we can hardly wrap our minds around it. Many will not even be able to go back to check on their homes for days. It is hard for any of us to imagine what it is like and what it will be like in the weeks ahead.
I saw a picture of the utility trucks heading south from across our nation. The lineman in these trucks will be away from their families and their areas for weeks as they help restore power to those who are without. Pray for them.
Rescue workers are arriving from other areas with food, water, and necessities. For some, it is their job; for others, it is an act of kindness. Pray for them.
I saw another truck carrying a large generator that will be used to bring light to the dark areas, to prepare food, and also to charge phones so many can communicate with their families. Another truck had washers and dryers available for those who return to their homes. Each of these are using what they have to help others. Pray for them.
I can’t mention all the aid that will be needed and provided, but I just want to remind us all that it will be ongoing for many months for some and years for others.
I pray that we can offer help where we see the need and pray for all who are suffering.
“I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me…..” Romans 15:30.
May we “pray without ceasing.”
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
