The book series Left Behind by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins was published several years ago. Some of the books were made into movies. The series is based on Biblical facts concerning the rapture, time of tribulation, and second coming of Jesus Christ. A few nights ago I decided to watch the first of the series. It is definitely an eye opener and a reminder of the scripture: “Two men will be in the field; one will be taken, and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left…..” Matthew 24:40-41.
One particular scene remains with me. The main character “Buck” is a good man and very interested in finding out what happened to the ones who had disappeared, but he was not a believer in Jesus. When he was scheduled to meet with Nicholas (the anti-Christ) a friend told him to be careful that the only one who could face the anti-Christ and not be taken in by his mind power was the one who believed that God saved him through the blood of Jesus.
This scene stayed with me because it reminds me that we can face evil and win only if we have the heart of Christ—we then see evil for what it is. It cannot deceive us.
Before he enters the room, Buck accepts Christ and places his life in the hands of the only one who could protect him. He then faces evil and wins.
With Jesus in our hearts, we don’t have to face the evil in this world alone. He fights with us and for us and He always wins.
Have a blessed day!
