Good morning from The Garden!

Do you have days when you just don’t feel very well? You mope or whine or drag around wishing you felt better. Then—–it happens–you get the flu or maybe COVID. You are really sick. I mean really sick–not for a day, but day after day for a week or more. Then you think, “I’ll never feel good again. I’ll never be the same.” Then gradually you get better. You get out of bed. You eat solid foods again. Your strength comes back. You then know that you have made it back to “normal.”

Where am I going with this? I think we have to remember that when we go through tragedy or heart break, we think that we will never be able to feel good again. We think “This is it,” or “I will never find joy in my life. “

We are like Job in the Bible when he suffered: “If I say, ‘I will forget my complaint. I will change my expression, and smile,’ I still dread my sufferings. ” Job 9.27.

At first we pretend to feel better. We pretend that we are all right. But then something wonderful happens

God takes this pretense and makes it real. He carries us through. We make it day by day. It may come gradually through the laughter of a child or the smile of a friend or the beauty of a sunset or sunrise. But it will come.

God promises us joy that exceeds temporary happiness or pain. He promises us life and life more abundantly.

“”Weeping may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” Psalm 30:5.

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
