Good morning from The Garden!

The birth of Christ is recorded in Matthew 1-2 and in Luke 1-2. You must read in both accounts to get the entire story that is familiar to us at Christmas time. But a glance and Matthew 2:1-12 tells the account of the Wise men.

“Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem saying, ‘Where is he that is born King of the Jews? We have seen his star in the East and have come to worship him’……” Matthew 2:1-2.

Isaiah 60:3, “And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.”
1 Kings 29-30, “God gave Solomon great wisdom….in fact, his wisdom excelled that of any of the wise men of the East….”

These men were not Jewish.  They had not been listening to the law and the prophets every Sabbath for years.  They did not even understand everything there was to know about the coming Messiah.  Yet, these WISE men sought the Christ child.

Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount:    “….seek and ye shall find….”  Matthew 7:7.  The difference in the Wisemen and the “people of Jerusalem who were disturbed” Matthew 2:3 is simply this:  The people of Jerusalem knew the prophecy but had allowed the anticipation to take their own personal direction.  They were no longer seeking, they were waiting.

The Wisemen sought and they found.

When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.  On coming to the house, they saw the child with His mother Mary and they bowed down and worshipped Him.  They presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh….”  Matthew 2:11.

We don’t have to understand all there is to know about God’s ways or His plan to seek God’s love and guidance in our lives.

I pray we will learn to seek Him daily and not just wait on the results we desire.

“….you will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart…..”  Jeremiah 29:13.

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
