Every now and then I watch a clip of something on the news. Doing this is a little like touching the hot pot to see if it is hot. I know the news will ruin my day but I catch a glimpse of it anyway–just to see.
A few days ago our new United States Special Presidential Envoy for Climate (that is really his title) had something to announce. The money that has been set aside to help people with immediately needs after the devastation from a hurricane will now be placed in the account to control climate change and therefore prevent the hurricane from happening.
I may be paraphrasing this just a little but he actually said that we will be able to control the weather.
“In the beginning GOD created the heavens and the earth…...Genesis 1:1. He didn’t create and then just walk away and leave it with us.
God tells us in His Word that the rains and storms will come, and when they do, the just and the unjust will feel the impact.
“He causes the sun to shine on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” Mathtew 5:44b.
In Matthew 44a Jesus tells us that we are not to love our neighbors and hate our enemies. We are to “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.”
God loves us all. Storms happen to us all. We are not in control. No amount of money spent on the study of the climate will prevent the storms. Our Christian duty is to help those in need when the time comes. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you...” Matt 7:12. The taxpayer disaster fund helps us do just that. Help others.
I pray that out nation will never forget to help one another in times of need.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
