Everyone has value. Everyone has a reason for being. God uses each of us to do His work here on earth.
Each Monday I put out my trash on the road. I am so blessed that someone comes by and picks it up and takes it wherever it needs to be to get it from my house. This job may not seem appreciated or important, but on Monday mornings, it is the most important part of my day. I notice when the sanitation men and their truck come down my road, and I notice if they miss my pick-up. Either way this job is important to me.
But this morning I am thinking of one particular sanitation worker in South Louisiana who paid attention to his surroundings as he went about his daily work. He spotted a car in the field and knew it was suspicious. Because he cared, and because he was alert, and because he got involved, a ten year old girl is back home safe with her family.
“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us.” Ephesians 2:10.
God knows that we are needed; He knows when we are needed. We just have to be ready. Remember that we are created to do His work whenever and wherever it may be.
God may never ask us to save a little girl’s life, but we can be ready to act when God calls us to His service. We are saved by God’s grace (v. 9), but our faith is shown through our works.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
