Good morning from The Garden!

“Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4.

Jesus was tempted in every way, just as we are—yet He was without sin. He knows firsthand what we are experiencing when we struggle with weakness and sin.

Jesus had fasted for 40 days in the wilderness and the devil used this natural desire for food to tempt Jesus into making a deal. Jesus chose not to use His Divine power to satisfy His hunger so He could experience humanity fully. As hungry as He was, He knew He was in this place to fast and pray, not to eat.

There is nothing wrong with satisfying a natural hunger with bread(food), but the timing was wrong. Something more important was before Him.

We often satisfy God-given desires in the wrong way and at the wrong time.

This scripture reminds us of the importance of putting God first in all things and in all decisions.

When we put God first, we find the strength to avoid the dangers that instant gratification can bring into our lives.

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
