“Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?” 2 Chronicles 1:10.
These words express a clear reality that Solomon faced. He could not do the job that lay ahead for him without God’s wisdom and knowledge. He basically was saying, “No one can do this job but you, Lord.”
From the New Testament we find a similar pattern to Solomon’s plea. The Apostle Paul had confidence in his future because he first of all knew beyond any doubt that God was able to deliver him in all situations.
“I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that He is able to guard that WHICH I HAVE COMMITTED TO HIM for that day.” 2 Timothy 1:12.
Both Paul and Solomon placed their trust in the Holy God who can take care of each day.
We cannot expect God to guide our lives and help us to do the things expected of us unless we give them over completely to Him.
We can have confidence in the day, but we first of all have to give the day to God.
Have a blessed day!
