There is a very good cure for what ails you if you have the “poor me” syndrome. Think of someone else.
“Each of you should look not only to your own interests but to the interest of others.” Philippians 2:4.
Notice this scripture reminds us that we have to take care of ourselves [look not only to your own] before we can take care of others. “Love others as yourself.” Matt. 22:39.
But as we turn our eyes toward others, we get an outward look instead of that inward look that so often consumes us.
The proper balance between caring for self and caring for others is often hard to find. We either spend too much time on self or for some, too much time on others.
I like the rule that we hear in the safety instructions on an airplane. “Take your oxygen first.”
This is a simple idea, that makes sense. Strengthen yourself, and then reach out and give this strength to others.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
