I love ordering my groceries over my phone and then just driving up and having the worker place them in my car. I have gotten accustomed to this little idea. But I have always been partial to this service.
When I was young, we ordered from the local grocery store, and the items were delivered to our back door by the worker. Now that was nice. Mom would sit down and make a list and call it in. I didn’t even know that a chicken came any other way but “two fryers cut up.” That’s the way I heard her order. After I got married, I realized that the whole chicken actually had to be “cut up.” But that’s another story for another day.
This little convenience was probably taken for granted. I realize now that everyone did not have groceries delivered in such a manner. Many did not have groceries enough at all. With this thought, I know that in many ways I was rich.
We don’t see our wealth, and when we do, we so often give ourselves the credit. We take for granted the little things and don’t see them as blessings at all.
As we look around us every day, we see God’s work in so many ways. We are blessed, and should give God the glory for all that we have.
“You may say to yourself, ‘My power and strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.’ But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who give you the ability to produce wealth….” Deuteronomy 8:17-18.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
