We win a race; we get a trophy. We work diligently; we get that position. We keep traveling; we reach our destination!
Every reward is preceded by our own efforts—well, maybe not!
“The scriptures tell us Abraham BELIEVED GOD, and that is why God canceled his sins and declared him ‘not guilty.’ But didn’t he earn his right to heaven by all the good things he did? No, for being saved is a gift; if a person could earn it by being good, then it wouldn’t be free—but it is!” Romans 4:4-5a. Living Bible translation.
Many have the idea that if they are good enough, then God will certainly reward them. But everyone needs to remember: “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
He loves us just as we are. We do not earn His grace; it is freely given to all who receive. Our reward is His Grace. In His love He has given us everything; We now owe everything to Him.
