Good morning from The Garden!

Jeremiah is often called “The Weeping Prophet” because God gave him a message for His people and they had run so far from God and His will that they would not heed his words.

He told them of the destruction that would follow if they did not turn back to the loving God who had blessed them for generations.  When they refused, this broke Jeremiah’s heart and, more importantly, it broke God’s heart to know the punishment that awaited an unfaithful people.

Assyrian had already taken the Northern Kingdom of Israel captive and Judah was next in line as the Babylonians were closing in from the North.

It was time for the people of Judah to make a stand:

God gave the people choice.

This is what the Lord says :  ‘Stand at the CROSSROADS and look; ask for the ancient paths and ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your soul.’ ”  Jeremiah 6:16.

The people made the wrong choice and suffered the consequences:

But you(the people) said, ‘We WILL NOT WALK in it………we will not listen……

” ‘Therefore hear, O earth, I am bringing disaster on this people, the fruit of their OWN schemes because they have not listened to my words and have rejected my law…..’ “

No wonder Jeremiah wept; no wonder God took away His protection.  His people made the wrong choice.  He never stopped loving but He followed His people through the choice that they made.

You have a choice everyday as you stand in the crossword of decisions.  Make the right one and follow a love that is Ancient of all day.  Follow the will of God.

Have a blessed day!                                                                                                              In Christian love,
 Diane
