Good morning from The Garden!

I left early the other day for an appointment in Madison.  I thought I was going to be ahead of the storm that was predicted, but instead, I found myself right in the middle of it.  I had just turned off interstate on the Natchez Trace when it hit.  The rain came down, the lightning was fierce, and the thunder rocked my car.  But I never felt unsafe, just uncomfortable.  I was alone in my car; there was a car in front and in back, but because I was on the Trace each one was going at the same safe speed and no one was coming to my left and right.  I just had to keep my eye on the road and get through the storm.

This taught me a valuable lesson as I drove along.  The car in front was leading the way, light flashing for me to see.  The care behind gave me my distance and did not try to crowd me but kept an eye on my car.

That afternoon, there were three individual cars, and yet we were one unit finding our way through the storm.

It’s like that in the storm that comes suddenly into your life.  You have to follow the car in front—Jesus Christ as He leads you—-not always around the storm, but safely through it. The car behind me reminded me of those around you who are ready to help in any way that you need, but they often know to give safe space for you to work things out for yourself.

I simply kept driving and just as I reached my destination, the rain turned into a light drizzle, and the sun began to bring light through the clouds.  The storm was now just a memory.  I had made it safely through.

My comfort in my sufferings is this:  Your promise preserves my life.”  Psalm 119:30.

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
