Good morning from The Garden!

“Jesus said, ‘A new command I give you:  Love one another.  As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.’ “  John 13:34-25.

There are so many ways that people can show their love for God and others.  I witnessed love in many ways on Saturday morning.  I stopped by a restaurant to have breakfast before heading home from my daughter’s house.  I sat at a small table in the middle of the room and waited on my order to be ready.  As I sat—-I observed!  I suddenly felt like I was at a big party with people that I had never met.

At the table next to me was a family of four–dad, mom, teen son, and pre-teen daughter.  I noticed that they were talking and listening to each other— No cell phones or video games, just talking. I heard the words ball practice or school project.  I wasn’t listening closely but I just realized that I could hear the voice of each one speaking and all the others listening and responding.–This is love.

At the counter on the other side of me was a man with hands folded, eyes closed, and head down as he prayed over the food that had been set before him.  This is love.

An elderly man brought in an elderly woman in a wheel chair and got her comfortably settled near the table and then went to order their food.  He watched her carefully and made sure she had all she needed. —This is love.

A family came in—the dad with a child in his arms, the mom pushing a baby carriage, and a young boy dressed in uniform excited about getting breakfast before the big game.  And of course, I noticed the grandfather, smiling and playfully teasing the child in the dad’s arms.–This is love.

I will never see these people again and it was their one chance to make an impression on me, and obviously, they did.

“………..As I have loved you, so you must love one another…….” Love is visible and when it shows, others notice.

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
