“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble……..” Psalm 46:1.
A refuge is a place where we can feel safe.
“…….Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging—-The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.” Psalm 46:2,3,7.
God is our strength, but we must gather this strength fresh and new each and every morning.
He is not a temporary relief in times of deepest needs. He is an ever-present help always. No matter what goes on around us we must have confidence in the strength and refuge of a loving God.
I am reminded of the words of a familiar hymn:
“What a fellowship; what a joy divine;
Leaning on the everlasting arms.
What a blessedness; what a peace is mine; Leaning on the everlasting arms.
Leaning, leaning, Safe and secure from all alarms. Lean-ing, lean-ing, leaning on the everlasting arms.”
Have a blessed day!
