Good morning from The Garden!

I went with friends to see the movie The Shift.  To say it was unusual is an understatement.  The movie was an allegory depicting the way Satan can control our lives by the decisions that we make.  I have always heard that if Satan were a devil with horns and a red forked tail, we would run from him. But God tells us in His Word that “he comes crouching at our door.”   He comes to us in various ways.

In The Shift the main character is launched into another dimension, a parallel world where he is lost and fights to get back to his family.  This dark world is controlled by “The Benefactor” (Satan).   All aspects of hell are seen in this world, but there are glimpses of hope and good seen through the dark.

The movie brings to life the book of Job as we see one man suffer as God lifts His hand of protection.  But ultimately God is in control: He speaks to Job to calm his doubts:   “…….Who then is able to stand against me? who has a claim against me that I must pay?  Everything under heaven belongs to me……..”  Job 41:10, 11.

Evil is deceiving.  In small ways it leads to broken relationships, broken hearts, and broken spirits.  Trusting in the good that God brings when He controls the heart, the thoughts, the words, and actions brings a peace that only He can give.

Job answers God:  “I know that you can do all things;  …….surely I spoke of things I do not understand; things too wonderful for me to know……my ears have heard of you, but now my eyes have seen you…..”  Job 42:2,3,5.

God works in us through a personal relationship with Him.

“If we claim we are without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.”  1 John 1:8

“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.”  Romans 6:23

“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the grave, you will be saved.”  Romans 10:9.

With one bad choice, evil came into this world; with one good decision evil is taken away.  “...Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.…”  John 1:29

The miracle of Christ——Claim it; live it.——

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
