Good morning from The Garden!
I grew up in a world when every business closed at 5:00–period– no exception. We knew that if we needed groceries or supplies or a hair-cut or a doctor, we better need it before closing time. We were compelled to have the nights off. Family time and play time were something that we all just took for granted.
At our homes we played for a while and then we all scampered to our separate homes, had family supper around the table, and then we went back outside and played after dark for as long as our parents permitted it.
There was a definite difference between night and day in that world.
Now many businesses boast 24/7 which means they are open for customers 24 hours every day of the week.
There is very little distinction between day and night—light and dark—-. This allows us to adjust our schedules in many different ways.
“And God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.” Genesis 1:5.
I just wonder sometimes what our world would be like today if we still knew that distinction.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
