At one point in the game the coach called one of his 9 year old players aside and asked him, “Do you know what cooperation means? What a team is?”
The little boy nodded in the affirmative.
“Do you understand what matters is whether we win or lose as a team?”
The player nodded, “Yes.”
“So,” the coach continued, “I’m sure you know, when an out is called, you shouldn’t argue, curse, attack the umpire, or call him names. Do you understand all that?”
Again, the little boy nodded, “Yes.”
The coach continued, “And when I take you out of the game so a teammate gets a chance to play, it’s not good sportsmanship to call your coach a “noodle head” is it?”
The player agreed: “NO.”
“GOOD,” said the coach, “Now go over there and explain all that to your grandmother.”
As Christians, we are all part of the team. Many of us take the role of spectator and think that it does not matter what we do or how we act. But it can matter to someone, and it always matters to God.
The Apostle Paul says, “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow—–for we are all God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field.” 1 Corinthians 3:6-9.
All Christians in the name of Christ make up His team. We honor Him and we all win.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
