Good morning from The Garden!

“Pure religion undefiled is this: that you take care of widows and orphans in their affliction and keep yourself unspotted from the world.” James 1:27.

Widows and orphans are mentioned in this passage because they were the most vulnerable in society, having very little means to take care of themselves. The people of faith needed to be reminded to think of them and care for them.  In today’s world there are many who need our care or our support if we only see them through the eyes of Jesus.

To be unspotted from the world means to be unpolluted by the world’s value system, which is based on money, power, and pleasure.

True faith means nothing if we are contaminated with these worldly goals.

We are able to remain unspotted from the world by committing ourselves to Christ’s ethical and moral system.

By placing others who are in need above ourselves and by living by God’s standards,  we exhibit religion in its purest form.

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
