Today, June 6, 2024 marks the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings along the Normandy coast during World War II. I have to admit that I may have let this day come and go without a thought had it not been for my great-nephew Carter. He looked up at me during VBS and said with extreme pride, “Thursday is June 6th.”
I had to think for a moment and then I remembered. “The invasion—-The greatest amphibious landing in history. The battle that changed the course of the war in Europe.
I pay tribute to the ones who lost their lives, and I celebrate the ones who came home, including my Uncle.
I wish all of our young ones would be taught the history of our nation and what has been done to make it the great nation that it has become.—But sadly, we forget!
Thank you, Carter, for remembering!
Our Christian nation is founded on the commandments of God. God’s church grows because we follow Him and pass this devotion on to our children. The Christian church is possible because of the battles of many through the centuries. God asks us never to forget what has gone before.
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your strength. These commandments I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home, and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up……write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates….…” Deuteronomy 5:5+
Remember!
If we remember, we appreciate; if we appreciate, we cherish; if we cherish, we serve God; if we serve God, He blesses.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
