This is a little different than my usual, but I need to vent………..
Last night on the podium at the Republican National Convention, Rev. Franklin Graham prayed for the candidate Donald Trump, and for our nation. He praised God for his protection of Trump in the assassination attempt. This prayer was a clear statement that our nation is devoted to the one and only true God. As the cameras scanned the crowd, all the people listened quietly with heads bowed and eyes closed, with one exception—-the wife of our Vice Presidential candidate, Usha Vance. I noticed this so I read about her from many different articles. Each article praised her for her faith——–in nothing.
These articles reminded me of a story I read about a town meeting several years ago. The president stated: “You are welcome to open in prayer as long as you don’t mention “God.”
How do you pray without acknowledging God? Who created the heavens and the earth? Who lived a sinless life? Who died for our sins so we can have forgiveness? Who loves us unconditionally? Who was resurrected and lives today and offers us eternal life? How can you be a person full of faith without God?
“Jesus said, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes unto the father but by me.” John 14:6.
I remember watching the confirmation of Chief Justice John Roberts for the United States Supreme Court several years ago. I listened as many of our lawmakers posed questions and one of them was: “I am concerned that your belief in God will influence the decisions that you make.” Crazy! How can it not influence anyone!!!!
Believing in the God who blessed the founding of this great country, is the very core of its greatness. We worship God; we praise God; we believe in God; we give thanks to God; we never forget what God has done in our lives and in the life of this country.
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ: Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword: No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Romans 8:35-37.
Nothing can separate us from God’s love unless we desire the separation.
Now let us all bow our heads and close our eyes and give thanks to the God of our salvation.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
