I have a tickets to see the theater production of “Queen Esther” in Branson, MO. I am excited, not only because it is a road trip with sister and friend, but because I have always admired her story and the godly bravery that she represents. I know I will be touched seeing this story brought to life.
“…I will go to the king, even though it is against the law…..and if I perish, I perish….” Esther 4:16.
The lives of her people were in grave danger. Since Esther was queen, she was the only one in a position to save them. She also knew that to speak to King Xerxes could mean her own death.
When she approached the king, instead of being angry with her, he offered her anything she wanted: “…Xerxes the king said, ‘…Queen Esther, what is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be given to you.’ “ ( 5:3 ) She had a perfect opportunity to look out for Number One, yet she boldly followed a plan that would save her people.
God was in control, and yet Esther had to act to save her people. It is hard to understand how both of these situations can be true at the same time. But God has chosen to use each of us to carry out His plan.
Just as God placed Esther in the palace, God places you in a unique position to do His work.
He chooses to work through those who are willing to act for Him.
Pray as if all depended on God, but act as if all depended on you.
Avoid two extremes: doing nothing and feeling that you must do everything.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
