The book Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt is the story of a family who knew of a spring of water that held a secret. It was a fountain that gave them everlasting youth. They lived a separate life from others so that no one would learn their secret. They had youth, but they were not able to share this discovery with others.
God never meant for us to live forever here in this world, nor did He want us to keep ourselves separate from the world around us. The fountain of youth that He offers us is understanding the wisdom and love and protection that He offers every day. Putting God first puts a smile on our face, a bounce in our step, and a song in our heart. (It keeps us young.)
You can be enlightened by God’s wisdom and understanding “Understanding is a fountain of life to those who have it….” (Proverbs 15:22a )———or you can be dragged down by the weight of you own foolishness–“….folly brings punishment to fools….” (22b)——-.The choice is yours.
The fountain of youth is only a dream, but the fountain of life is a reality– “….And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever….” Psalm 23:6.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
