Timothy was in a time of transition. His time with Paul was coming to an end. He had grown in his faith as Paul’s young helper, but now it was time to step out and be the leader that God needed him to be.
Paul tells him that he has a savings account that would be all he needed to get him through: “……pattern of sound teaching with faith and love in Christ Jesus—“ 2 Timothy 1:13.
He then encourages Timothy to
“Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit.” 2 Timothy 1:14.
I have often heard that life is like a bank account—you can draw from it only what you have deposited.
